P1 Organised By Price: 60 Practical, Chic & Budget Friendly DIY Gifts For Her
You guys knew this one was coming.
My website is aptly named Mia’s DIY Projects, after all, so it’s not hard to guess that I’m a big advocate of the handmade gift. For one, they’re so much more personal. I also find that, if planned properly, DIY gifts tend to cost less – and have a bigger impact than something you ordered on Amazon Prime because you left it to the last minute*.
*I am not calling you out, I’m calling myself out.

However, for the majority of people who don’t craft every 3-5 business days, I can see how handcrafted gifts pose a challenge. Coming up with what you’re going to make people? Buying the supplies you need? Figuring out long will it take and whether it’s actually going to end up any cheaper? My ADHD brain winces.
That being said, I am an avid crafter who plans Christmas the second boxing day hits. This is my element. The one, incredibly niche thing I have trained for. So today I’m all about sharing my wisdom and helping you guys plan your DIY gifts for the ladies in your life!
Top 10 Free DIY Gifts For Her

Yeah, buddy, you read that correctly: with a bit of elbow grease, you can create handmade gifts that are completely free!*
*Okay, well, nothing in life is totally free. But you can make these things from items you’ll have lying around your house.
The Top 2 Gifts From This Category Have To Be A Handmade Coloring Book Made From Recycled Paper and An Upcycled Dry-Erase Project-Planner
GIFT #1 – Handmade Coloring Book: Handmade paper is super easy to make at home from old card and paper scraps. (You can even DIY the mold and deckle or buy one for $12 on Amazon!) The internet has tons of genuinely cute free printable coloring sheets you can use too. Heads up: I’ve published a post on 34 printable paint-by-number kits you could adapt into a handmade coloring book too!
GIFT #2 – DIY Whiteboard Organizer: Nepotism, baby! Our second pick is lifted right from this blog – and it was made as a gift for my friend Ashton. I used the glass from an old photo frame, some acrylic paints and . . . well, that’s pretty much it! Easy enough for even beginner crafters, this project can easily be done over a rainy weekend. (Or within a day if you wanted to use spray paint rather than acrylic – I found the layers of paint needed a hot second to dry.)
Gifts #3 & #4 Are Delicious 3-Ingredient Shortbread Cookies and Fancy Infused Olive Oil Bottles

GIFT #3 – 3-Ingredient Shortbread Cookies: Pretty much everybody has flour, butter and sugar in their pantry – and that is all you need to make these delish cookies! If you have cookie cutters, you could make them into cute shapes but I quite like the rectangle look.
GIFT #4 – Easy AF Infused Olive Oil: Honestly, homemade food gifts are a great budget-friendly option because you can just use things you already have. I have literally never met another adult who didn’t have olive oil in their kitchen and there are multiple recipe options depending on what you’ve got on-hand.
Use Free Printables To Make Gifts #5 & #6 – Craft A Weekly To-Do Tear-Off pad Or Make someone an entire planner

GIFT #5 – Printable Daily Tear-Off To Do Pad: Okay, I am obsessed with this gift idea and you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be recreating it! All you need is a printer and PVA glue – and any fellow crafters will probably have those on hand. This would make the perfect practical gift for organization lovers.
GIFT #6 – Printable DIY Planner: Again, this is a brilliant gift for people who like organization and all you need is a printer! And – yes, of course – this is yet another craft that I will be recreating!
Upcycle Your Old Diffusers To Make Gift #7 & Repurpose Your Recycle Bin Finds To Create A DIY Plant Pot For Gift #8

GIFT #8 – DIY Propagation Station: There are plenty of ways you could customize this craft according to what you have on hand (old alcohol bottles, pasta jars, etc) and it’s a super fun gift for houseplant lovers!
GIFT #9 – Upcycled Faux Concrete Planter: Would you believe this plant pot was made from an old conditioner tub? Not only is it a planet-friendly upcycle but the final product is adorable.
Gifts #9 #10 are thoughtful open when letters and Utterly Adorable Printable gift Coupon

Gift #9 – Thoughtful “Open When” Letters: I absolutely love this gift idea – especially for a long-distance bestie! In fact, I’m mentally bookmarking it to try this Christmas . . .
Gift #10 – Printable Love Coupons: Printables might be where it’s at! You can find so many cute options out there – and this printable coupon book is a must-try.
10 Stunning Handmade Gifts For Her Under $5
My Top Picks For Crafty Gifts Under $5 Go To A Crafty Arched Mini Shelf and An Easy Handpainted Tray

GIFT #1 – Upcycled Arched Jewelry Holder: This is a cheeky self-promotion – but for good reason! I made this as a little shelf for my best friend and she loves it. The base is just an old cardboard box and there are plaster tubs on sale on Amazon for less than $5 so this is a wonderfully affordable option too!
GIFT #2 – Hand-printed Bohemian Tray: Again, this is actually one of my crafts – but I’m totally obsessed with how it came out!
Handmade Gifts #3 and #4 Are A Clever Thrift-Flip That Turns An Avocado Into A Bonsai Tree and An Easy DIY Vase Made From A Plastic Bottle

GIFT #3 – Thrift Flipped Avocado Bonsai Tree: If you’re a fellow avocado lover, did you know how easy it is to grow mini avo trees from pits? It’s free – and makes a super cute houseplant gift! Head to your local thrift store to find a shallow dish for a few dollars and then pick up some dollar store stones to create something truly unique.
GIFT #4 – Upcycle A Plastic Bottle Into A Chic Vase: Regular readers may have spotted this craft a few weeks ago but I’m still so chuffed with how it came out. Using plaster and acrylic paint, you can convert pretty much anything in your recycling bin into a stylish vase.
Crafty Gifts #5 & #6 Are A Surprisingly Easy Crescent Moon Shelf and A Thrift-Flipped Art Piece

GIFT #5 – DIY A Moon-Shaped Crystal Shelf Using Cardboard & Plaster: Cardboard and plaster are genuinely two of the most versatile crafting materials. You can create all kinds of truly stunning pieces over a weekend – and for under $5!
GIFT #6 – Head To A Thrift Store And Rework Some Outdated Art: A great DIY gift idea for her is to create some personalized art. A few months ago, I shared a post about how I made pretty good money reworking thrift store art for profit . . . and some of the easiest designs I came up with for people to try at home!
Gifts #7 & #8 Are Surprisingly Easy DIY Pressed Flower Candles and A Stunning Upcycled Planter

GIFT #7 – Pressed Flower Candles: You can easily thrift cheap candles or head to the dollar store to pick ’em up! If you don’t have pressed flowers on hand, you can pick fresh flowers and dry them instantly in the microwave too.
Here’s the tutorial for these bad boys:
GIFT #8 – Chic Little Plant Pots From Upcycled Plastic Packaging: Alas, the world is slowly burning and most of our recycling doesn’t get recycled. So I love any craft that repurposes single use plastic! These mini planters are genuinely so cute – and, if you have any twine lying around, you could even fashion up a little hanger too.
Gifts #9 & #10 are Urban Outfitters Dupe Faux Ceramic Bookend Vases & An Upcycled moon planter

10 Crafty Gifts For Her That Are Under $10
Our next round of gifts have a little bit of a higher budget . . . and you will be surprised at what a difference that wiggle room makes! Getting creative with thrift store finds can be a great way to keep your costs down over the holiday season, as well as upcycling old items and even taking a dive in your recycling bin!

As always, if you enjoy these ideas, make sure to share them!
